Two Bedroom Housing

Recognising that adequate housing is important for leading a dignified life; the present government has started “Two-Bedroom Housing” as a State flagship programme.The Pilot project has been taken up in IDH Colony, Bhoiguda, Secunderabad and completed in a record time offering the features of a 580 sft area,two bedrooms, two toilets and one hall and kitchen accommodation, with an estimated cost of Rs. 7.90 lakhs per unit. A total of 396 Units in 32 Blocks of G+2 pattern in 6 acres sites were identified and 276 SC, 31 ST, 79 BC & 10 minorities have benefitted under the project.

Slum Free Hyderabad

There are 1466 slums with approximately 18 lakh population in GHMC areas. The present government is committed to constructing 2.00 lakh double bedroom houses for homeless in the City, free of cost. Presently 48 locations have been identified for 25,000 beneficiaries in 25 constituencies. Foundation has been laid in 20 locations for 5986 units so far.

Rs.5/- Meal Scheme

The objective of this scheme is to provide affordable and hygienic food in hot condition to all walks of people – visitors / tourists / working class / students, etc, This is the first of its kind program by an Urban Local Body (ULB) and it has received good response from the citizens. So far 50 Centres (at major hospitals, bus stands, railway stations, labour addas) are being run successfully – providing 13000 meals a day. Food consists 450 grams of rice, 100 grams of Dal, Sambar, and Pickle. More than 500 students have been availing this facility daily at Chikkadpally library.

Driver cum Owners (DCO) Program

The objective of “Driver Cum Owner” program is to provide an opportunity to the individuals who are in the field of driving, to become a proud owner of the vehicle. Presently 408 persons have benefitted from this program and 2500 applications are under process for allotment of Auto Tippers

Progress made During 2015-16

Water Supply in GHMC Areas

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is in charge of Water Supply & Sewerage service in GHMC area. The service area is 688.20 Sq.kms. At present HMWSSB supplies drinking water to Hyderabad &Secunderabad City and to the Surrounding Municipalities of GHMC areas and also provides Bulk water supply to the Cantonment Board, Osmania University, MES, Railways, Industrial units etc.

The availability of water supply network varies from 50 to 95% in different constituencies and the availability of sewerage network varies from 30 to 98% in different constituencies. There are about 8.66 lakhs water supply connections of which 694779 domestic, 142603 domestic slums, 1457 industry, 25737 commercial and 1473 bulk connections.

Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-I:

HMWSSB has taken up the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project Ph-I to augment 172 Mgd at a cost of Rs.3,375 Crores for main Project and Rs.350 Crores for Ring Mains Project totalling to Rs.3725 Crores. As on 18-12-2015, 86 MGD was being drawn and balance 86 MGD will be drawn by March-2016.

Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-III:

The government has approved the project proposals of Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Ph-III to provide 90 Mgd from the river Krishna, Nagarjuna Sagar Reservoir, at a cost of Rs.1670 Crores. The Project has been fully commissioned since18th Nov’2015 for withdrawal of 90 Mgd of water to supply daily in the core city and improving the rate of water supply in peripheral circles of GHMC.

JnNURM Projects:

HMWSSB has taken up 11 projects under JnNURM at a cost of Rs.2,002 Crores for improvement of water supply & sewerage infrastructure. The completed projects outcomes are providing the improved water supply and sewerage facilities in each project zone area of GHMC.

Malkajgiri Water Supply Project:

Under the Municipal Development Project, the comprehensive water supply services improvements project for Malkajgiri Circle of GHMC is taken up at a cost of Rs.338.54 Crores. The project envisages the creation of required storage reservoirs, providing inlet, outlet and distribution network & metering etc. for the entire Malkajgiri circle. The Project Works are likely to be completed as per the agreement schedule by May 2016.

Water Supply Distribution Network Projects for Peripheral Circle:

The Government has accorded administrative sanction for “Water Supply Distribution Network Project for the Peripheral Circles of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation” at a cost of Rs.1900 Crores. On completion of the scheme, equitable water supply distribution will be ensured in entire GHMC area.
