Warangal: Army recruitment rallies would help to address unemployment problem in rural areas, Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu said.

Speaking to press persons at the launch of recruitment rally at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, he said besides addressing unemployment problem, the recruitment rallies if held locally would motivate youth to join army in more numbers.

‘If a youth joins army from a village, his family could be empowered and it further encourages others to get into the army to serve the nation,’ he explained. The 11-day army recruitment rally was being conducted by Army Recruiting Office, Secunderabad.

District Collector V Karuna flagged off the 1600 metre run held as part of physical fitness test during early morning hours and thanked the army officials for conducting the recruitment rally in Warangal.

About 29,500 aspirants from all over Telangana registered their names for the recruitment rally held to fill up around 1000 vacancies. The deputy director general of Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Chennai, Brigadier Sangram Dalvi and the director of Army Recruiting Office Colonel A K Rohilla monitoring the recruitment rally.

They reiterated that candidates attending the rally need not pay money to any agent or touts. The recruitment of candidates takes place in fully transparent manner and based on the candidate’s performance in physical fitness test, physical measurement test and
written test.
