Warangal: Sri Gurudeva Charitable Trust of Kothavalasa based in Vizianagaram district has come to the rescue of a woman inmate at Warangal Central Prison who lost her leg.

At a programme in the prison premises on Tuesday, the physically challenged woman, Ch Rama, was presented an artificial limb by District Legal Services Authority secretary and senior civil judge G Neelima and the Trust Chairman R Jagadish Babu in the presence of the Jail Superintendent K Newton.

Speaking on the occasion, the Judge Neelima said during a recent visit to the jail, she found the inmate Rama facing difficulty in walking as she lost one leg of her legs some time back. Then, she got in touch with Guru Deva Charitable Trust authorities to help the woman. Fortunately, they responded positively and got an artificial limb prepared to suit her, she added.

The Jail Superintendent Newton thanked the trust and the judge for helping the woman.

The DLSA member R Suresh, Deputy Superintendents of Jail C Shankaraiah and T Venkatalakshmi, Jailors P Ashok Reddy, K Srinivas, V Srinivasa Rao, K Narsimha Swamy and others were present. Tri-cycles and artificial limbs distributed to physically challenged girls
At a similar programme in the physically challenged girls’ hostel at Subedari in Hanamkonda, tri-cycles, artificial limbs, prosthetic hand and crutches were distributed to the girls at the hostel by the DLSA Secretary Neelima and Trust Chairman Jagadish.

The District Child Welfare Committee chairperson K Anita Reddy and others attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish said that serving the physically challenged gives immense satisfaction. It was the duty of every person to contribute their mite to support and boost the morale of those suffering from physical deformities.
