Hyderabad: With 25 days to go in its ambitious 100- day action plan, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has managed to complete a mere 40 per cent of it’s stipulated works. The State government had given a target to the civic body and asked it to complete several pending works pertaining to the city before the Telangana Formation Day (June 2). Mayor B Ram Mohan claimed that they could not achieve the target due to several technical problems such as handing over the tenders to the private contractors.

The GHMC has so far completed 223 black top (BT) roads out of 569, 15 bus bays out of 50, constructed one grave yard out of 10, 2 model markets out of 40 and 61 compound walls out of 350 compound walls in open places. Out of the targeted five slaughter houses, not even one could be made functional. Only 2,374 out of 10,000 applications under the ‘Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) were dealt with. Several works were yet to begin.

Queried about the delay, Ram Mohan told The Hans India that even though the civic body officials have picked up the pace in completing the works, they might not reach the target due to several technical problems in the implementation. He blamed the senior officials in GHMC for failing to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) and call tenders in time in order to achieve the target.

The Mayor further stated that the civic body would work extra hours during the last 25 days in order to try and achieve its 100 -day action plan target for which purpose he would co-ordinate with the civic body officials on daily basis.
