Two held for smuggling ganja
Two persons have been arrested on Saturday on charges of smuggling ganja to Hyderabad from Visakhapatnam and 91.5 kg contraband was seized from them.
Hyderabad: Two persons have been arrested on Saturday on charges of smuggling ganja to Hyderabad from Visakhapatnam and 91.5 kg contraband was seized from them.
On a tip off, the sleuths of Prohibition and Excise Enforcement department intercepted a car (AP 11 J 6648) at Chaderghat X roads in Hyderabad on Friday night and during checking they found 91.55 kg of ganja stored in the car.
“C Achuta Rao of Siribala village and C Venkata Rao of Lingate village in Andhra Pradesh were taken into custody for questioning. They confessed of transporting ganja from Chintapally area in Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad for sale,” ACP P Bhagavan Reddy said adding that the seized contraband was worth Rs 6 lakh. The duo were arrested and sent to judicial remand, the ACP said. Further investigation is on.
