Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi where they held discussions on the drought conditions prevailing in the state.

The Prime Minister invited the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Madhya Pradesh for a meeting on Tuesday to take stock of the situation in 11 drought-hit states. He has already met the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka on Saturday.

The meets are being held so that the Centre and the states would work together to overcome the drought situations pitching in focus on medium and long-term solutions for drought-proofing. The Chief Minister reminded Mr Modi about the payment of drought relief that is due to the state and explained the conditions in Telangana due to unseasonal rains.

It is expected that the Centre will be providing adequate drought relief to Telangana and KCR who has already prepared a report on drought, submitted it to Centre, seeking financial assistance of Rs 2,350 crore.
