​Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao expressed pleasure at the gesture of the Karnataka government in agreeing to release 1 tmcft waters for the purpose of drinking water facility for Mahbubnagar district. Recently Harish Rao appealed to his Karnataka counterpart and sought his help in mitigating water woes as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government is on a mission for speedy completion of the projects.

The Karnataka government informed Harish Rao that 1 tmcft waters would be released to Palamur district. Water Resources Principal Secretary of Karnataka informed the Telangana government that it would release 1 tmcft waters from Narayanapur dam to the district. Harish Rao also extended thanks for the announcement and sought timely help in future as it would strengthen the relations between riparian States.

Meanwhile, former minister DK Aruna on Saturday called on Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and sought his help to the victims of Jurala submergence area in Palamur district. Along with the affected people, the Congress leader met Harish Rao at the Secretariat and sought compensation pending for 10 years.

Aruna apprised the Minister of the problems of about 270 families who became victims under the project and were deprived of facilities and survival.

After taking stock of the problem, Harish Rao assured that he would look into the matter and help the victims in all possible manner.
