Station Ghanpur TRS MLA T Rajaiah has demanded the TDP chief and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to put pressure on the Centre towards achieving categorisation of scheduled castes (SCs).
Warangal: Station Ghanpur TRS MLA T Rajaiah has demanded the TDP chief and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to put pressure on the Centre towards achieving categorisation of scheduled castes (SCs).
He said the Madiga community members have been fighting for the cause of SCs categorisation for the past 22 years. But they were being deprived of their right due to negligent attitude of the TDP and BJP towards the demand.
The MLA alleged that Chandrababu Naidu was causing obstruction to the categorisation process in collusion with BJP with which the TDP partnered at the Centre. Doing its part the TRS government in Telangana passed a resolution in the state assembly seeking categorisation of the SCs, he said.
But no such steps were taken by the AP government; he complained speaking to press persons in Hanamkonda on Sunday while demanding the TDP government to pass a resolution in AP assembly supporting SCs categorisation.
The BJP leadership which promised to categorise SCs within 100 days of coming to power has failed to do so even though two years passed since it came to power. The centre failed to act on Usha Mehra Commission report submitted to union ministry of social justice in 2008 on classification of SCs into A, B, C and D categories, Rajaiah said.
He asserted that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has always supported SCs categorisation. He along with Deputy CM K Srihari met Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to get to pass SCs categorisation bill in the parliament.
Rajaiah called upon the Madiga leaders to work together to put pressure on the Centre on the issue.
