He laid foundation stones to Pushkar ghats at Anjaneya Swamy temple in Sagar Pylon Colony and at Dayyala Gandi.

He, along with district Minister G Jagadish Reddy, MLC Karne Prabhakar, former MLA Nomula Narasimhaiah and MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy, toured Nagarjuna Sagar on Thursday and checked the low-level canal at Nagarjuna Sagar, concrete lining works to Sagar left canal and Dindi balancing reservoir at Teldeverapally village of Chandhampet mandal.

Addressing the media, Minister Harish Rao said the government is decided to construct 86 Pushkar ghats along the Krishna River belt in the State for the convenience of the public. He said the width of the ghats was 500 metres during the last Krishna Pushkarams in united Andhra Pradesh, but this time they are increasing the width of the bathing ghats to 4,850 metres.

Harish said the government has sanctioned Rs 212 crores for the construction of ghats in the State which is Rs 118 crores more than the amount released in last year. He directed the district officials to maintain quality in the works and to complete all the works pertaining to Pushkarams within two months. Separate temporary rooms will be established for women for changing dress after a holy dip in Krishna water.
