BJP livid over KCR threats
Telangana BJP State leaders here on Friday took strong objection to the threat by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao that defamation cases would be filed against Opposition leaders if the latter made unsubstantiated charge against the government.

The BJP leaders felt that the threat issued by the Chief Minister reflected the “feudal mindset.” They also objected to the Chief Minister describing BJP State president K Laxman“a beggar.”
Addressing a press conference here at the party office, MLC N Ramchander Rao, party spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao lashed out at the Chief Minister for trying to terrorise the Opposition parties.
“Opposition and ruling party are the two sides of same coin. If there is no opposition, there is no meaning to democracy. Opposition is a watchdog of entire political system,” said Ramchander Rao. The opposition has right to oppose the wrong steps of the government, he added.
“We are not scared of the cases. If defamation case is to be filed against anyone, it should be against KCR only for the language he used during the separate Telangana agitation, he said.
The BJP leader said that the Chief Minister had never taken the Opposition into confidence even on important issues like re-designing of projects, Godavari water utilisation. “We will support you if you do good work. BJP has history of fighting against suppression.
If you change your attitude there will be change in Telangana State. Otherwise the state will lag behind. Withdraw the comments and seek apology,” Ramachander Rao said.
BJP leader Krishna Sagar Rao said that the comments of the Chief Minister were undemocratic. He advised the Chief Minister to concentrate on administration and not on statements like this.
The party would organise a public meeting on May 22 to mark completion of two years of government at the Centre. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad would attend the meeting at Shubham function hall at Nagole.
