Nalgonda: The district administration is all set to organise the second State Formation Day celebrations here on a grand note. District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy briefed the media here on Friday on the programmes to be organised on the State Formation Day. District Minister Jagadish Reddy, other political leaders and officials will pay tributes to martyrs at the Memorial Rock located at Clock Tower centre in Nalgonda.

Later, the Minister will hoist the national flag at police parade grounds and distribute awards to eminent persons and beneficiaries of various government schemes. In the evening, cultural programmes reflecting the State’s culture, tradition and sacrifice of martyrs will be organised at NG College grounds.

Following the State government’s directions, the district officials would conduct sports and games to youth at a village, Mandal and district levels from May 23. Kabaddi, volleyball and kho kho would be conducted for men while rangavalli and kho kho competitions will be held for women. Sports competitions will be conducted for the students at midday meals centres.

As part of the celebrations, sanitation drive would be carried out in all villages to make them clean for the State festival. All the government offices and main centres in the district will be illuminated with lights. About 26 eminent persons in various fields will be honoured with a cash award of Rs 51,116 and the Committee, chaired by district Minister G Jagadish Reddy will decide the awardees.
