Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao faced a backlash from the Telangana Congress leaders on Saturday over his statement that the Opposition leaders will be slapped with defamation cases if they continue accusing the TRS government of corruption without showing proof.

Speaking at the event organised at the Gandhi Bhavan to mark the 25th year of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, TPCC leaders N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mohd Shabbir Ali reacted strongly against KCR for trying to threaten the Opposition.

Uttam Kumar said that such intimidating statements do not suit the stature of a Chief Minister. He further said that the Opposition has a right to criticise the wrong policies of the government in a democracy and KCR should realize that it is the responsibility of the government to invalidate the allegations. The TPCC leader further said that Congress will continue to highlight the failures of the TRS government, irrespective of the consequences.
