Hyderabad: The State government embarked a major task to protect all assigned lands that were given to the poor. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday asked the District Collectors to conduct a survey and prepare a detailed report on the utilisation of the assigned lands and encroachments by June 30 this year.

The Chief Minister held a detailed review on the maintenance of land records and lands possessed by the government with District Collectors and said that his government is committed for the optimum utilisation of assigned lands for the welfare and development of the poor.

Financial assistance for the irrigation of lands under SC, ST Sub Plan would be provided to the beneficiaries after the survey on assigned lands is collected. The encroached lands would also taken back and given to the deserved under three acre land distribution programme, he added.

The Chief Minister was informed that about 25 lakh acres of assigned lands was given to the poor in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh. Most of the barren lands were either lying in state of neglect due to lack of irrigation facility or were occupied by others.

The officials brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that most of the assigned lands were yet to be registered in the name of real beneficiaries and some were encroached upon.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to take up registration of all lands (non assigned) up to five acres that were purchased by people through bynamalu ( agreements on white papers by sellers and buyer) for free of cost in all villages from June 2 to 10.

The scheme would be applicable to those who bought the lands before the bifurcation of State on June 2, 2014. The Chief Minister warned the officials of stern action if any one insisted for bribe to register the lands.

He wanted all such land transactions to be displayed online ensuring transparency and to avoid land disputes in 15 days after filing applications.
