The forest department has proposed to set up a tiger zone at Eturunagaram, the third one after Amrabad tiger zone in Mahbubnagar district and Kawal tiger zone in Adilabad district, to bring past glory to wildlife sanctuaries in the State. 

Warangal: The forest department has proposed to set up a tiger zone at Eturunagaram, the third one after Amrabad tiger zone in Mahbubnagar district and Kawal tiger zone in Adilabad district, to bring past glory to wildlife sanctuaries in the State.

In Warangal district, there are two wildlife sanctuaries at Eturunagaram and Pakala. Till 2009, tigers inhabited the sanctuaries, but they could not be traced in the subsequent tiger census.

So the forest department proposed to set up a tiger zone at Yeturunagaram. The proposed tiger zone comprises forests located in Mahadevpur and Mahamuttaram in Karimnagar district, Eturunagaram in Warangal district, Gundala and Yellendu of Khammam district.
