The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Council meeting that was scheduled to be held on Saturday to elect 1,500 ward committee members was postponed due to lack of quorum. Out of 150 Corporators, a minimum of 108 members had to be present in the Council to go ahead with the process, but only 46 Corporators turned up. 

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Council meeting that was scheduled to be held on Saturday to elect 1,500 ward committee members was postponed due to lack of quorum. Out of 150 Corporators, a minimum of 108 members had to be present in the Council to go ahead with the process, but only 46 Corporators turned up.

As a result, the Mayor Bonthu Rammohan postponed the meeting. The meeting was slated to begin at 10.30 am but was postponed after half-an-hour at 11 am due to lack of quorum. Out of the 46 Corporators present, 43 were from the TRS and three from TDP. MIM and Congress Corporators skipped the meeting.

It is learnt that the names of the ward committee members had still not been finalised by the ruling party and were yet to be ratified by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister K Taraka Rama Rao, who is currently in the US.
