Hyderabad: Oil tankers and LPG truck owners, who went on strike from Sunday midnight, temporarily called off their strike following an assurance by the government to consider their demands. They will be meeting the Principal Secretary (Revenue) on Tuesday for further talks.

According to officials of Civil Supplies and related departments, who intervened to control the situation from going out of hand, the state government has agreed to study the demand to waive 14.5 per cent VAT on transport.

Representatives of the Petrol, Diesel Tankers Owners' Association have decided to discuss the issue in detail with Principal Secretary (Revenue) B R Meena on Tuesday.

Association president K Rajashekhar Reddy said their main demand was immediate withdrawal of the 14.5 per cent VAT imposed on transportation.
