Unani Hospital to get facelift soon
Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds Revenue portfolio, Mohammed Mahmood Ali laid foundation stone for renovation and repairs of out-patient and pathology lab on the premises of the Government Nizamia Tibbi College, Charminar, along with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that the State government, under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was committed to the revival of ancient and beneficial medical practice of Unani. He said the out-patient and pathology lab would be renovated with an estimated cost of Rs 80 lakhs in a plinth area of 8,000 sqft which would be completed in a year.
All necessary steps would be taken for the revival and upliftment of Unani, an ancient system of medicine which did not have any side effects, he said and attributed the present plight of Unani medicine to the previous governments which did not take proper measures at crucial times.
He said all the issues with regard to promotion of associate professors, recruitment of more nursing and support staff, setting up of men’s hostel and provision of food to hostel inmates etc were brought to the notice of the Chief Minister and would all be addressed with utmost seriousness soon.
While the Deputy Chief Minister said the State government was taking essential steps to safeguard the roof of Mecca Masjid on permanent basis by involving professional and experienced technical staff from Archeological Survey of India which would use same kind of material originally used while taking up renovation work after the rainy season. He also said with an estimated cost of Rs 1.50 cores, necessary repairs of Mecca Masjid were being taken so that any untoward incident could be averted.
On the occasion, Dr Rajender Reddy, Commissioner AYUSH, Dr Mir Yusuf Ali, Addl Director, Unani, Dr Abeda Sultana, Superintendent, Nizamia Tibbi Hospital, Dr Shazadi Sultana, Principal, Nizamia Tibbi College, Syed Sohail Quadri, Corporator, Pathergati, and others were present. Later in the afternoon, Mahmood Ali inaugurated the Louis Braille Park and unveiled the statue of Louis Braille in the same park in Malakpet Colony near Mumtaz College bus stop.
This park, which can be accessed by all types of physically challenged, has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 90 lakh by Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR), while the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) donated the land for the park. Speaking on the occasion,
the Deputy Chief Minister lauded the efforts of Friendly Environment for the Disabled (FED), an organisation working for the welfare of the disabled for getting this first ever barrier free park which is one-of-its-kind in the State and appreciated the role of HMR and GHMC in getting this project materialised. On this occasion, GHMC Commissioner Dr B Janardhan Reddy, HMR Managing Director N V S Reddy, FED president Ganga Ram and others were present.
