A property tax payer who has cleared the dues of Rs 51 has won Rs 1 lakh bumper prize. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, in order to see that the defaulters clear the property tax dues for the financial year 2015-16, has introduced a prize system, in which it has declared that the bumper prize winner would receive Rs 1 lakh.
​Hyderabad: A property tax payer who has cleared the dues of Rs 51 has won Rs 1 lakh bumper prize. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, in order to see that the defaulters clear the property tax dues for the financial year 2015-16, has introduced a prize system, in which it has declared that the bumper prize winner would receive Rs 1 lakh.
G Bapi Reddy, owner of a property in Malkajgiri, has won the bumper draw of Rs 1 lakh. Another resident P Asha, a property owner in Abids, was declared as the winner of first prize of Rs 50,000 for clearing property tax dues worth Rs 101.
The second prize was shared by M Sunitha, who paid Rs 6,712 from the Charminar circle, and another property owner who paid Rs 1,510 from the Khairatabad circle. Five others will get Rs 10,000 as the third prize. Ten persons will get Rs 5,000 as fourth prize in addition to 1,000 consolation prizes of Rs 2,000.
Speaking to the media, GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said that they would continue the bumper prize contest in June on weekly basis.
The bumper prize for the weekly contest would remain same and the money for the remaining prizes may be changed. The official sponsor for the bumper prize contest is the State Bank of Hyderabad.
The GHMC commissioner further said that during the same time May last year, the civic body had collected Rs 12.92 crore, whereas during the current year the Corporation has collected Rs 24.37 crore towards property tax.
Janardhan Reddy said the cheques for the winners in the bumper prize contest would be handed over on the Telangana Formation Day.
