The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) will hold a party meeting on Sunday, 5th June from 2 pm-4 pm at Mehdi Function Hall, opposite Dapeerpura Flyover and near MBT Head Office, Chanchalguda for the purpose of selection of new party president after the recent passing of immediate past President Dr. Khayam Khan.

A core committee of nine senior MBT leaders has been constituted to drive the selection process through consultation and opinion seeking from MBT workers and sympathizers. The committee invites all MBT supporters to attend the meeting on Sunday where the committee's official decision will be announced.

The next president will be MBT's fourth in the post after Mohammed Aman Ullah Khan who served 1992-2002, Advocate Md. Adam Malik who served 2002-2013, and Dr. Khayam Khan who served 2013-2016. Mohammed Aman Ullah Khan founded the party in 1992 after being suspended from the Majlis-e-Itehadul Muslimeen (MIM) for protesting against the alleged weak stance that the MIM took during the demolition of the Babri Masjid. Other crucial issues he raised in his protest against the MIM focused on a lack of internal democracy in the party, nepotism, political patronage, and corruption in the MIM's civic dealings. Mohammed Aman Ullah Khan was MLA from Chandrayangutta constituency in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Assembly between 1978 and 1999 retaining the seat for five terms. His youngest son, Amjed Ullah Khan, served as a Corporator in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation from 2002 to 2016.
