Mulug/Warangal: At Mulug, mild tension prevailed as an activist of Samakka-Saralamma Mulug Zilla Sadhana Committee called P Bhojya Naik, on Thursday attempted suicide protesting state government’s alleged negligent attitude towards the demand of creation of Mulug district.

MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga laments that dalits are being neglected

The activist after dousing his body with petrol tried to set himself ablaze, the fellow activists prevented him and admitted to Mulug government hospital. Large numbers local leaders visited him at the hospital. Later committee members and Mulug JAC activists have boycotted the formation day celebrations and took out protest rallies wearing black ribbons.

They staged a dharna at Telangana Talli statue at Mulug town centre. Speaking on the occasion the Zilla Sadhana Committee founder M Bikshapathi Goud found fault with Deputy CM K Srihari for declaring that Mahabubabad would be made district headquarters without confirmation from CM K Chandrashekar Rao.

The Deputy CMs’ reported statement has hurt the sentiments of Mulug people and they were gearing up to stage serious agitations on the lines of separate Telangana movement. If the CM fails to concede to the demand the TRS leaders would not be allowed to step into Mulug, he warned. ‘We are ready to face arrests and go to jails in achieving Mulug district,’ he added.

The activists of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) have staged protests across the district, boycotting Telangana Formation Day celebrations following a call was given by the Samithi president Manda Krishna Madiga. The MRPS leader led a protest in Hanamkonda where the activists wearing black shirts and waving black flags and staged the demonstration at BR Ambedkar Centre.

They shouted slogans against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao protesting alleged anti-Dalit attitude of the TRS regime. Krishna Madiga alleged that the CM backtracked from his promise of making a Dalit the first chief minister of Telangana. He was neglecting the Dalits in the state and Deputy CM K Srihari was supporting him. Hence, all the Dalits should stage collective agitations against his rule, he said.
