District gears up for Intl Yoga Day on June 21

Nizamabad: Additional Joint Collector A Rajaram said that the district administration would organise the celebrations of the International Yoga Day at the district, mandal and divisional levels on June 21 on the directive given by the Central government.

Addressing the officials of DRDA at a review meeting in the Collectorate in the town on Monday he said that the Yoga Day celebrations would begin at 6.55 AM and continue till 7.45 AM.

The Additional Joint Collector said that the district administration would make efforts to revive the ancient glory of Yoga in collaboration with the district yoga association and the Art of Living. Yoga was part of the rich cultural heritage of India he added.

He said that the health of the people could be improved by doing yoga exercises regularly.

Yoga is good both for physical and mental health, he added.
He said that in view of the heavy rains, the yoga camps would be organised in Sreeram gardens and Sravya gardens.

Around 4,000 delegates were expected to participate in the yoga camps, he added.

Rajaram directed the officials concerned to make arrangements in such a way that 200 people in the camp in every divisional headquarters and atleast 100 people in mandal headquarters would take part.

He advised the people participating in the yoga camps to wear traditional white clothes.

The Additional Joint Collector directed the officials of the Educational Department to organise yoga camps in schools, colleges and also Universities. In this connection, duties should be assigned to physical instructors and yoga teachers, he added.

Additional Superintendent of Police D Anand Kumar, Nehru Yuva Kendra district coordinator M Ramachander Rao,STEP CEO Upender Reddy, Additional Commandent Venkataramana, yoga teachers Ramachander, Siddi Ramulu and others were present.
