​Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy instructed the irrigation engineers to speed up the construction of feeder channel works of HNSS main canal.

He held a conference with the irrigation engineers after attending the Nava Nirmana Deeksha progarmme at Pathikonda on Monday.

He asked the engineers to speed up the channel works of HNSS canal and complete it within a stipulated period. The water will cater to the irrigation needs of 65 villages under Pathikonda and Devanakonda mandals.

The HNSS SEs and EE should carry out the work during night times too as the lands were handed over to the irrigation officials after acquisition he said.

District Collector Vijay Mohan expressed his displeasure over the sluggish pace of works related to channels. He pointed out that 50 per cent of the concrete works were kept pending for packages 28 and 29. He ordered the Special Deputy Collector to submit a report with all the details furnished, village wise the amount of land acquired and the amount paid to the farmers. He said every week he would review the progress of work.

He asked the engineers to finish the works by the end of July.

Later the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated gram panchayat building which was constructed at a cost of Rs 13 lakh utilsing NREGS funds at Chennampalli. He also inaugurated an Anganwadi centre, an Upper Primary School building besides a Sthri Sakshi building at Thuggali.

He assured that Chennampalli would be developed on par with his native place Kambalpadu.
