Hyderabad: For the first time after the Telangana formation, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti leaders, including ministers and MPs launched an all-out attack on the Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram and went on to the extent of comparing him with a poisonous snake.
The reaction comes in the wake of JAC chairman Kodandaram’s remarks that the TRS government did not achieve the results it aimed at. “If the government cannot do it, it should step down and we will show how to do,” he had said at a function on Sunday.
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, along with MPs B Suman and Dr B Narsaiah Goud, said Kodandaram was not just attacking Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao but was slighting four crore population of Telangana.
The CM had come in praise as the best CM in the country for taking up pro-people policies. The government was pursuing pro-policies in every segment while fighting drought with the best practices which were coming in praise from every quarter, including the Centre and the NITI Aayog, Harish Rao said.
Kodandaram should realise that he was made the chairman of the JAC by KCR and not vice-versa. The movement was fought by the TRS leaders and cadres relentlessly to realise the dream of separate statehood for Telangana. That being the case, the criticism of Kodandaram sounded ridiculous and it would be better if he abstained from repeating the same, Harish Rao said.
Finance Minister Eatala Rajender told reporters in Karimangar that almost all politicians and intellectuals have praised the performance of KCR Government. Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said that there was no political JAC now. Jagadish Reddy said Prof Kodandaram should explain which JAC he was heading now.
“If there is a new JAC formed then what are the aims of it? What is the composition of the JAC and when was it formed? If there is no answer to these questions then his statements have no meaning,” he said. Asking Kodandaram how could he miss to view development in villages, Jagadish Reddy asked whether the professor was aware of the welfare schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi, super fine rice in hostels, 9-hour power supply and loan waiver.
“People will not accept him with his old JAC mask. Attack on KCR will be opposing development,” said Jagadish Reddy. Lashing out at the JAC chairman for his critical remarks, TRS MP Balka Suman compared Kodandaram with poisonous snake. He said, “Before going to America, JAC chairman said that the earlier governments were responsible for suicides of farmers but after his return from America, he says TRS government was responsible.”
Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy said that it was not proper to make comments against KCR, who is relentlessly striving for ‘Bangaru Telangana’. At a media conference in Mahbubnagar, Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Talasani Srinivasa Yadav on Monday breathed fire Prof Kodandaram. They felt that it was not proper on the part of the JAC chairman to have demanded the Chief Minister to step down if he was unable to run the state administration.
Planning Board vice-chairman Niranjan Reddy sought to know why Kodandaram has been growing impatient. He was surprised at Kodandaram keeping silent when Jaganmohan Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu were leaving no stone unturned to get the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy stalled. Stating that some vested interests gained proximity to Kodandaram, MLA Srinivas Goud advised him not to walk into their trap.
