The South Central Railway (SCR) is going all out to increase awareness among the public to be careful at railway level crossings. The week-long special drive that ends on June 10 includes host cultural evenings, nukkad-nataks, village-fairs and demonstrations.

​Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) is going all out to increase awareness among the public to be careful at railway level crossings. The week-long special drive that ends on June 10 includes host cultural evenings, nukkad-nataks, village-fairs and demonstrations.

Joint ambush checks would be conducted involving the Railway Protection Force, Government Railway Police and civil authorities at the Railway Level Crossings, to apprehend errant road users under the Motor Vehicles Act / The Railways Act, informed railway officials.

Safety seminars are being organised in all the divisions of SCR to sensitise the railway staff, the road users and the public in general on the subject. Emphasis is being given to educate road users on the need to observe all safety precautions such as to stop, look and then proceed while passing across un-manned level crossings.

Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, South Central Railway issued instructions to undertake this focused campaign aimed at avoiding accidents at level crossings. During this week long special campaign, SCR officials will focus on thorough inspection of safety measures including the availability of requisite infrastructure at level crossings.

A close watch will be kept on the loco pilots to monitor their whistling habits while approaching a level crossing. SCR is also planning to organise sports tournaments, walkathon with motto of “Safety at Level Crossing”.
