​Nizamabad: Five persons, including three children of a family, and the auto driver were killed on the spot when a TSRTC bus collided head-on with their three-wheeler near Vittapur village under Navipet mandal of Nizamabad district on Wednesday. Four other passengers were also grievously injured. There were two children among the dead.

Among the dead were autorickshaw driver Ganesh, his daughter Gangotri , Satwick (02) Nitish (19), Ruchita (17) and Satyanarayana (30).

The ill-fated family of Adarsh Nagar in Nizamabad was returning home after completing 'Aksharabhyasam' ceremony for the children at the Saraswathi Devi temple in Basara. The auto driver died on the spot while the three children declared brought dead to the government hospital.

One of the injured, a housewife Rachana, was stated to be pregnant and as her condition was stated to be critical,she was shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad DSP Ananta Kumar said. He said that the police booked a case and took up investigation. According to the locals, the accident occurred when the autorickshaw driver tried to overtake the RTC bus.

Nizamabad MP K Kavitha and State Transport Minister Mahender Reddy expressed shock and deep sorrow over the accident in which six people lost their lives.

They demand severe action against those responsible for the accident and assured all support to the families of the accident victims.
