New Delhi: TRS MP Balka Suman on Wednesday took on the JAC Chairman Professor Kodandaram, for the latter’s criticism of the TRS government and challenged him to prove the allegations. Suman ridiculed Kodandaram's charge that the government failed to implement promises in its manifesto and said no other government in the country was pro-people and pro-poor.

Suman reminded JAC Chairman that the welfare measures adopted by the government and development plans had come in for praise from several quarters including the NITI Aayog,

the Centre and the PMO. He pointed out that Telangana was leading the nation in welfare schemes for the poor and weaker sections and said Rs 1,000 crore was allotted for the scheme of purchasing land and assigning it to the SCs in the 2015-16 budget. Suman said this scheme was implemented with hundred percent subsidy and without any contribution from the beneficiaries or bank linkage.

He added the Scheduled Castes Developed Corporation had excelled in the implementation of the ‘Kalyanlakshmi’ scheme, which was aimed at relieving the SC families of financial distress at the time of their daughters’ wedding by providing them with assistance of Rs 51,000. Similarly, he said, the ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ scheme was envisaged for the welfare of the minority community, apart from scholarships designed for minority community students. Likewise, the Tribal Welfare Department too was implementing various programmes for the welfare of the tribals in the State, said Suman.

The welfare measures to BCs and several other developmental programmes such as ‘Aasara’ pensions had endeared the government to all sections of the people and their love was reflected in the results of various elections which the TRS was sweeping time and again, opined the MP.

He therefore contended that any criticism directed against the government was invalid. Saying that the TRS was always open to constructive criticism from any quarters, Suman said the government was always willing to correct its course if there was anything wrong with its policies and programmes.
