With an aim to improve the quality of engineering education and produce skilled engineers, the Methodist College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) has decided to hold a Career Compass 2016 programme for two days beginning Saturday. The programme would be conducted from 10 am to 6 pm.

​Hyderabad: With an aim to improve the quality of engineering education and produce skilled engineers, the Methodist College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) has decided to hold a Career Compass 2016 programme for two days beginning Saturday. The programme would be conducted from 10 am to 6 pm.

College Principal Dr VS Giridhar Akula said here on Friday that the engineering education plays a vital role and due to the rapid changes in the field of science and technology, engineering education was gaining wide attention. He said producing skilled engineers had been a significant task for any organisation.

Giridhar Akula said that the new Telangana government had laid greater focus on the quality of engineering education and hence many reforms had been witnessed in the recent past. He said due to the continuous efforts of the government, engineering education was gaining momentum in the State.

He appreciated the management of The Hans India and the HMTV for taking a decision to organise Career Compass 2016, in which students and their parents would interact with experts from the academia and industry on career prospects. The programme would primarily focus on various educational streams like engineering and technology, finance, banking, insurance, cracking competitive examinations like IAS, Multimedia, Group Discussions, etc.

He said many stalwarts in the academia and industry like Dr Jayaprakash Narayan (IAS), Prof K Nageshwar (Editor, The Hans India), Prof Ravande Kishore (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Osmania University), Dr A Govardhan (Principal, JNTU College of Engineering, Hyderabad), Dr P Lakshmi Narayana (Dean, Students Affair, OU), Dr P Chandra Sekhar Reddy (Professor-Coordination, JNTUH), Tiwari (Oracle), N Venuatesh (Red Pine Signals), Shravan Kumar (Visual IT, Mahadev Institute of Company Secretaries) and others would be participating in the programme.
