Jangaon (Warangal): The bandh called by ‘Janagama Zilla Udyama JAC’, Opposition parties and different people’s organisations here on Friday passed off peacefully. The bandh was called demanding creation of Jangaon district.

In support of the demand, all the business establishments were closed for the day in the town. Protest rallies were taken out, dharna and rasta-rokos were staged at RTC chowrastha and other places. The police have arrested several leaders of the JAC. The JAC chairman V Prasada Rao, honorary chairman K Parashuramulu and others speaking on the occasion demanded the State government to concede the demand of the Jangaon people.

Mild tension prevailed as a youth tried to obstruct the convoy of Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, who was moving towards Hanamkonda from Hyderabad via Jangaon. However the police who were on alert arrested the person.
