98.4% candidates crack TSEd.CET
Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) on Saturday announced the results of Ed.CET 2016 results in which 98.41 per cent cleared the examination.

TSCHE Chairman Papi Reddy told the media that as many 41,485 candidates attended the examination and 40,826 candidates cleared it. Prof Padala Prasad, Convenor of TSEd.CET-2016 said that the qualified candidates can download their rank cards from June 16 and the counselling for B Ed admissions for the academic year 2016-17 would take place during the first half of July.
“Counselling will be conducted for nearly 200 colleges of which only nine are university or university-affiliated colleges and all the remaining are private colleges,” he said.
Prof Prasad also said that in each B Ed college, the total intake for all methodologies together was 100 seats out of which 10 per cent for Physics, 10 per cent for English, 25 per cent for Mathematics, 35 per cent for Social Studies and 20 per cent for Biology were allocated. Out of 45,519 registered candidates, 41,485 appeared in TS EdCET-2016 conducted on May 27.
As many as 19,318 candidates qualified in Social Studies methodology followed by 10,486 in Biological Sciences, 7,878 in Mathematics, 2,575 in Physical sciences and a mere 569 in English.
As minimum qualifying mark in TSEd.CET-2016 is not defined for SC/ST/Women candidates in Mathematics and Physical Sciences methodologies, all those who appeared for the test from these categories in the said methodologies are declared to have been qualified in the test. As a result, 71 per cent of the qualified candidates in the test are female candidates.
Replying to a question, Prof E Suresh Kumar, Registrar, OU and the Chairman of TSEd.CET, said that the online admissions for undergraduate courses were being done on the basis of the list of affiliated colleges pertaining to the previous academic year and there were no deletions from the list, as the inspections at the colleges were not yet completed.
