Hyderabad: Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) on the first day of schools’ re-opening on Monday staged a dharna at Telangana Department of School Education (DSE) office demanding the government to take action on private schools that are charging heavy fees violating the fees norms.

Over a hundred PDSU members gathered at the DSE office and raised slogans against the government which is failing to attend their problems and allowing privatisation of schools in the State. PDSU State president Jupaka Srinivas addressing media at the dharna said that the government assured of taking a quick decision on this issue but nothing has been done so far.

The members stressed on implementing the government orders (GO MS no. 1, 32 and 91) which is about the prohibition of school fees hike, forming a parent’s committee and following other mandated norms.

Srinivas said that over 13,000 private schools across the State were violating these orders and yet officials are turning a blind eye on it. PDSU is further planning to organise a maha dharna with parents.
