Warangal: MLA D Vinay Bhaskar has called upon dalits to make use of welfare measures being implemented by the State government and improve their living standards.

He said the constitution of India has made special provisions for the welfare of the dalits to bring them out of poverty. In the same manner, the State government also launched many initiatives for dalits’ progress.

The MLA unveiled a statue of Babu Jagjivan Ram at Babu Camp Colony in Kazipet on Wednesday. Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi district president M Jitendher installed the statue with his personal funds to spread the ideology of Jagjivan Ram among masses.

Vinay Bhaskar noted that dalits were still lagging behind in terms of economic and social progress even as they were provided reservations in education and employment. There was an urgent need to educate dalits to make use of measures implemented for their welfare.

He appreciated Jitendher for installing the statue and his services for the benefit of downtrodden and economically weaker sections and recalled that in 2012 he also installed BR Ambedkar statue at the same colony.
Jitendher addressing the gathering informed that he opted for voluntary retirement from constable job, as he is now engaged in taking up full time work as social worker and spread Ambedkar ideology.

“The sad state of children in rural schools moved me and that was why I intend to spread message of education to all”.

The society should do its part for the underprivileged as rural children were direly in need of assistance to continue their studies even in government schools, Jitender pointed out. The local corporators, the BDSA members and colony residents felicitated him on the
occasion.
