Hyderabad: Congress Legislature Party leader K Jana Reddy and MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy were highly critical of the defection of party leaders to the TRS.

  • Jana Reddy says willing to quit all posts to take on TRS
  • Komatireddy challenges defectors to seek fresh mandate

Jana Reddy termed the actions of the defectors as ‘crooked politics’ and asserted that he was willing to resign from all posts including the post of CLP leader to work at the grassroots level and strengthen the party.

He affirmed that he would quit his post as CLP leader after meeting AICC president Sonia Gandhi and work hard to strengthen the party in Telangana. Nalgonda Congress workers said the CLP leader was shocked at his close aide, MLA N Bhaskar Rao, shifting loyalties to the TRS.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Jana Reddy said that the ruling TRS had never acknowledged that it was the Congress which made possible, a separate State. “Instead, the party has triggered ‘unconstitutional’ defections over the last two years.

The ‘developmental cause’ being cited by defectors is the most ridiculous excuse. I feel that these leaders have become very opportunistic and this was part of their political manoeuvres. The TRS government is encouraging defections by luring Congress men,” he alleged.

Jana Reddy affirmed to take forward the struggle for attaining justice through constitutional means. He pointed out that Golden Telangana was not possible through ‘crooked’ politics, but only through sincere service to the people who are yet to realise the fruits of bifurcation. “I am ready to quit all the posts for taking up the struggle at the grassroots level. I shall be informing this to Sonia Gandhi,” he added.

At a separate press conference Komatireddy Venkat Reddy challenged Sukender Reddy and Bhaskar Rao to quit as MP and MLA and contest afresh to prove their mandate. He held that the excuses of ‘pro-development’ made by the leaders were irrational.

“Till now Gutha changed three parties, what is the guarantee that he would stick to the current party,” he said. He termed the exit of Gutha Sukender Reddy as a good omen for the party and challenged the defectors to contest and win the elections once again to prove their mandate. “If they win, I will quit politics once and for all,” he said.
