Bejjur (Adilabad): Residents of six villages in Bejjur mandal took out a huge rally against Maoists in Gudem village on Tuesday carrying a huge banner asking them to desist from the path of violence.

An anti-Maoist forum was constituted for the first time in the district under the name of Public Works Protection Committee (praja panula rakshana committee). Residents of Chittam, Dinda, Ketini, Sivapalli, Nagepalli and Gudem villages took out a rally for a distance of three kilometers raising slogans against the Maoists.

The rallyists asked the Maoists to shun violence and refrain from vandalising public property and cause obstruction to rural development.
