Hyderabad: Telangana Congress party’s coordination committee meeting chaired by AICC general secretary and party in-charge for State affairs, Digvijay Singh, witnessed some heated exchanges between senior party leaders over lack of cohesion among leaders.

During the meeting which ran for more than four hours, Digvijay Singh took to task the State leadership over continuous instability and regular defections of party MLAs and MLCs. He expressed anguish over leadership’s failure to contain the situation which had reached unprecedented levels as a Member of Parliament had changed his loyalties to ruling TRS for the first time.

The meeting also witnessed argument between Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir and former Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana over their respective authority to intervene in the party matters. The leaders questioned each other’s authority on reacting to statements issued by party MPs like Palvai Govardhan Reddy and Gutha Sukhender Reddy before the media.

During the argument in the presence of Digvijay Singh, national leader Kunthia and state leaders, Shabbir Ali asked Sarve Satyanarayana to maintain calm and not react to statements issued by fellow party men. Meanwhile, the leaders sought a clarification from Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy over his praise for the Rs 5 meal sponsored by GHMC, prior to the conduct of the municipal elections.
