He reviewed the implementation of NREGS works in the district here on Thursday at a meeting with district officials and legislators at the district collectorate. Speaking on the occasion he informed that the Centre was asked to ensure minimum wage to those enrolled under the scheme.

As part of Haritha Haram programme it was planned to plant about 3.5 crore saplings in the district. Bitumen tapping on about 1200 kilometres of panchayat raj roads was completed of the total stretch of 1655 kilometres of PR roads in the district, he said.

Earlier on the day, the Minister along with MLA T Rajaiah has inspected the NREGS works at Fathepur, Chinna Pendial, Kacheri Thanda in Station Ghanpur mandal in the district. Interacting with the workers, he told them that the NREGS works were not limited for summer and scheme should be utilised throughout the year.

He said the government would soon issue orders for inclusion of planting and protection of the saplings along the panchayat raj roads under NREGP from this year. If the 50 percent of the funds under the scheme were utilised Anganwadi centres, compound walls and CC roads would be sanctioned for the villages.

He lauded an effort by the NREGS workers at Raghunathpally mandal, who formed a federation. The unity of villagers would help to resolve many issues, he said while asking the villagers to construct percolation pits, soaking pits and farm ponds to harvest rain water.
The Minister advised the villagers to construct individual latrines to maintain hygiene conditions.

ZP chairperson G Padma, Warangal MP P Dayakar, District Collector Vakati Karuna, District Water Management Agency Project Director Y Shekar Reddy, ZP CEO S Vijaygopal, and DRDA project director Venkateshwara Reddy were present.
