Development of Assembly constituency represented by TDP’s A Revanth Reddy seems to be stalled due to clashes between the MLA and ruling party leaders

Mahbubnagar: Rivalry between two political outfits the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has become a hurdle for the development of Kodangal constituency in the district as official machinery is hesitating to initiate development programmes in this constituency fearing wrath of political outfits which might trigger clashes between the two political parties leading to escalation of tensions.

If there are any programmes like laying foundation stones or inauguration of new buildings or other development works, the officials have to deploy a large posse of policemen to avoid any possible clash between the two outfits. Working president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Revanth Reddy, a staunch opponent of the ruling TRS government is representing Kodangal as MLA.

Whenever development programmes are organised with the participation of ruling party leaders or Ministers, there were instances of MLA Revanth Reddy locking horns with the ruling party leaders trading charges with them. As a sequel to it, clashes between the TDP and the TRS activists occur, messing up the whole programme.

Last year, a fierce argument had taken place between Minister Laxma Reddy and Revanth Reddy during the inauguration of hospital building at Maddur. Revanth went to the extent of terming the Minister’s doctor degree as fake. The issue took an ugly turn later.

Later on August 23, 2015 another such unsavoury incident had occurred between Revanth Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao at the time of inauguration of marketing department godown. Party workers of both the parties came to near blows and police had to whisk away Revanth Reddy from the spot.

Recently, on June 9 Revanth and Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao came face to face again at Kosigi. Revanth interrupted and tried to snatch mike from Jupally, who was bent on criticising TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu.

Such situations are slowing down the development of the constituency. The much-awaited programme for supplying drinking water to 210 villages through Koil Sagar lift-irrigation scheme is yet to be completed even though Rs 200-crore World Bank assistance was sanctioned to it long ago.

The works of RTC bus depot at Kosigi did not yet take place. Road widening works at Kodangal and Kosigi are going on a snail’s pace.
Construction work on sub-registrar office, fire office and excise office are being delayed in spite of sanctioning Rs 1 crore.

This is attributed to non-allotment of land. Even double-bedroom houses scheme and ST Residential School works were not yet grounded. Locals blame it on political rivalry between the two outfits for constituency’s tardy development.
