Hyderabad: Accepting the challenge of BJP leaders for an open debate on Central assistance to Telangana, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha on Friday said that the Centre had given only Rs 1,500 crore during the last two years.Talking to reporters on the Assembly premises, Kavitha said that she was ready for a discussion on the subject.

“Apart from state’s constitutional and rightful share, the Centre has given only Rs 1,500 crore more to Telangana, she said and condemned the statements of BJP president Amit Shah for stating that Centre gave Rs 90,000 crore to Telangana.

She alleged that the Centre did not even allocate half the funds that were given to Andhra Pradesh. Kavitha said that the Centre gave Rs 700 crore under drought assistance and Rs 450 crore as grant under BRGF and remaining in the form of small schemes.

She refuted allegations that the Telangana government was not supporting the Centre. She said that the Telangana government has approached the Centre on issues like AIIMS and ITIR. Hundreds of lawyers are staging dharnas but the Centre is not keen to resolve the issue and instead was leveling allegations against the TRS government, she said.

Kavitha said that Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had tried to mislead people in GHMC and people taught a lesson to the Minister.

Instead of blaming the TRS government, the BJP leaders should bring the same amount of money which was given to Andhra Pradesh government, she said.

Kavitha said that the state government was spending with care every rupee which the Centre was giving to Telangana.

She said that the DPR for ITIR project was already designed and alleged that there was no clarity on ITIR among T BJP leaders. The TRS leader said that the state government encouraged IT while the BJP-led government worked only for publicity.

Condemning the comments of Congress senior leader Digvijay Singh, Kavitha said that the culture of commissions have come from the Congress party. “The situation of Congress party is worsening.

The Congress leader should set right his home first. There is lack of leadership in Congress, hence many leaders are joining TRS,” she said.

The Nizamabad MP observed that the joining of leaders from different parties amounted to political unification.
