A workshop on ‘Swachh Telangana’ with theme ‘open defecation-free State by 2019\', was held at Park Hyatt on Tuesday. The workshop was attended by Arun Baroka, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, S P Singh, Chief Secretary (Special), Panchayat Raj, district collectors and other officials.

Hyderabad: A workshop on ‘Swachh Telangana’ with theme ‘open defecation-free State by 2019', was held at Park Hyatt on Tuesday. The workshop was attended by Arun Baroka, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, S P Singh, Chief Secretary (Special), Panchayat Raj, district collectors and other officials.

Speaking at the workshop, Arun Baroka said that Swachh Bharat was of prior importance for the Union government and it was ready to extend all kind of assistance to the State to achieve the target of open defecation-free State.

S P Singh described the problem of open defecation as the practice directly linked to the mindset of the people of a particular area or region. He felt that this can be achieved with active participation of people and coordination of officials of various departments.

He called upon the Collectors to prioritise this, besides their regular tasks. Director of Swachh Bharat Mission, Nipun Vinayak provided tips to the officials for achieving the target of open defecation-free State on the occasion.
