Earlier, the Joint Collector and city Mayor Aakula Sujata lit the lamp and inaugurated the yoga camp. The Joint collector said that yoga was a great boon passed on to us by our ancestors thousands of years ago and it would be very useful for students and employees to keep them calm and  peaceful. 

Nizamabad: Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy said that yoga was important for all the sections of the people, irrespective of their occupations, especially in the modern day-to-day life which was highly stressful. Participating in the second International Yoga Day celebrations in the premises of the Collectorate in the town on Tuesday, he said that yoga was essential to overcome tensions and lead a healthy life, mentally and physically. It has several healing powers, he added.

Yoga gives strength to the human body and mind, he added. He said that people would not be stricken with diseases if they practice yogic exercises regularly.

It helps in the normal circulation of blood, reduces BP and helps in the proper digestion of food, he added. Joint Collector Reddy urged the people to allocate some time every day for performing yoga. The international yoga deay celebrations were organised under the aegis of the district administration assisted by the Nehru Yuva Kendra, IRCS, Aayush department and field organisations. People performed yogic exercises (asanaas) in various postures.

District Yoga Association President Ramachander, Seventh battalion commandent Srinivas Rao, Additional Joint Collector Raja Ram, Revenue Divisional Officer Yadi Reddy, NCLP Joint Collector Sudhakar, NYK officer Ramachander, Ayush Officer Dr Tirupati, Yoga guru Siddaramulu and others were present.
