The first standing committee meeting chaired by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has unanimously approved as many as 19 of the 20 agenda items that were tabled. The 15-member standing committee discussed the pros and cons of all the agenda items.

​Hyderabad: The first standing committee meeting chaired by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has unanimously approved as many as 19 of the 20 agenda items that were tabled. The 15-member standing committee discussed the pros and cons of all the agenda items.

Speaking to the media, the GHMC Mayor said that the standing committee members agreed on 19 agenda items. He said of the 20 items tabled, 10 were related to road repairs, their extension and land acquisition. The committee also decided to rationalise the rates of stalls in Kushaiguda vegetable market.

It also gave a nod to take up the mega plantation drive which has been aimed at planting as many as 25 lakh saplings on July 11, he said. The Mayor said that the after standing committee’s approval, the State government would send the proposal to LIMCA books of records. The committee members have also decided to construct a Rasa Rangini building in 700 yards on Indira Park premises which would encourage traditional art forms of Telangana.

The Mayor further said that the committee members agreed to recruit additional engineers to take up projects like Strategic Road Development Plan and double bedroom houses for the urban poor. He said that the meeting also approved enhancement of salaries to outsourcing employees and meet every Thursday.

When enquired about the financial crisis, Bonthu Rammohan said due to the absence of standing committee, the funds from the 13th Finance Commission have been distributed to other municipalities and funds from the 14th Finance Commission would be utilised for the corporation.

Standing committee members MA Gaffar, Mirza, Mustafa Baig, Ayesha Rubina, Syed Sohail Quadri, Shaheen Begum, K Narendra Charya, G Anjaiah, T Sunaritha Reddy, Ramavath Padma, Gadwala Vijaya Laxmi, Bangari Prakash, M Kavitha Reddy, K Srinivas Reddy, K Saibaba and Minhazuddin were present during the two-and-half hour meeting.
