Palamur villages on growth path

​Mahbubnagar: People must work with unity to achieve development in villages, opined District Collector Dr T K Sridevi, while taking part at a Grama Jyothi programme at Bakkalingaiahpally village in Achampet mandal in Mahbubnagar on Wednesday.

The Collector inspected the construction of soak pits, individual latrines and the kind of education imparted to school children in the government school in Bakkalingaiahpally. She along with local MLA Guvala Balaraju inspected the government school and inaugurated the recently-constructed toilets at the school.

In a face to face interview with the school children, the Collector enquired with the children about text books and other books being distributed by the authorities. She also enquired about the teaching staff and the recently-admitted students under Badi Bata programme.

Expressing her happiness regarding the initiative taken up by the villagers in constructing the rainwater soaking pits and rainwater harvesting pits, the Collector praised the efforts of Naveen Kumar, Assistant Excise Superintendent, who is also a native of the village, for creating awareness and encouraging villagers to construct toilets and individuals latrines for every individual house in the village.

It is really heartening to know that all the villagers have successfully utilised the schemes of the government and made their village stand as an example to others in cleanliness and sanitation,” said the Collector while speaking at a meeting in the village.

Later the Collector also inaugurated the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plant in the village and said that every educated person should take Naveen Kumar as an example and create awareness among their villagers to construct Individual Latrines (IL) and eradicate the menace of open defecation.
