Warangal: The Telangana Congress has planned to expand its leadership base in the State, said TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

The party has embarked upon a 30-day action plan to streamline the functioning of the party by holding meetings of all district units and its frontal organisations. So far meetings were held in four districts including Warangal to strengthen the party structure.

As part of the action plan, strengthening of mandal and village level committees would take place. It was aimed to train about 1.20 lakh party workers as leaders from every district and on average about 10 lakh leaders would be produced across the State, he explained.

Speaking to press persons at Congress Bhavan on Thursday after holding meeting with district unit and frontal organisations leaders, Vikramarka said the party would review the outcome of the 30-day action plan.

The Congress leader alleged that large scale irregularities have been taking place in the distribution of subsidised tractors and other farming equipment. The prices of the tractors and other equipment were increased to loot the subsidy amount.

He opposed buying farmers’ lands through the GO 123 for developmental needs and said the government should procure the land by strictly following the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

The promised crop loan waiver is yet to be delivered. The irrigation projects started by Congress regime are given up and works related Devadula and Kanthapally projects stopped,’ Vikramarka complained.
