Karimnagar: Visibly disappointed over the plight of the students due to lack of facilities at Peddapur Gurukul School, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, who holds the education portfolio, said that he was feeling ashamed.

Speaking on the occasion, he criticised the previous governments for totally neglecting education wing in Telangana.

The government will develop the Peddapur Gurukul School which has been languishing for decades,” Srihari asserted, instructing the officials to prepare proposals for providing infrastructure on par with the corporate sector institutions.

Pointing to the launch of 250 gurukul schools, exclusively for SCT, ST and minorities, from this academic year, the minister said that since TRS came to power the government is giving utmost importance to provide quality education.

He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao also sanctioned 50 gurukul schools for the backward class students following a request from BC leaders.
Korutla MLA Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Whip Koppula Eashwar and ZP chairperson Tula Uma were present.

Later conducting a review meeting with the district officials at the Collectorate in Karimnagar, the Minister said the government was committed to provide free Intermediate education as part of KG to PG programme.

Efforts are on to increase enrolment in State-run colleges. Besides providing basic amenities and proper infrastructure in colleges, the contract staff working in junior colleges will be regularised,” the Deputy CM said. Finance Minister E Rajender, Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar and District Collector Neetu Prasad were among others present.
