Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya asked the State government to submit new proposals to strengthen the textile and handloom industry in Hyderabad, especially in Pochampally, Gadwal, and Narayanpet.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, the Minister said that the Centre has allocated Rs6000 crore for the development of the textile industry and the State should derive maximum benefit from it by working collaboratively with the Centre.

The Minister said that he would take up the matter with the Union Textile Minister to explain the schemes and Central guidelines to come up with programmes oriented specifically for the State. He said that the programme will give priority to women from SC/ST community and has the potential to generate 18 lakh employments across the country.

Dattatreya further said that the Centre is strengthening and encouraging technical professions and Rs 10,000 crore has been earmarked for this purpose recently. He asked the State government to discuss the Central scheme with the lead banks to utilize the policy thoroughly.

Dattatreya said they are offering a new benefit to employers who recruit new employees by providing 12 % of the employer’s share of Employees Provident Fund scheme. He said that Rs 1,000 crore has been allotted for this purpose.

The Minister added that they would soon conduct a meeting with the employers of MSME units available in Hyderabad, namely, in Nacharam, Miyapur, Kapra, Katedan and Patancheru to encourage them to utilize this benefit and motivate them to generate more employment.
