Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari has asked the common public, officials and legislators to come forward to increase enrollments in government schools.He stressed on the need of collective efforts to revive the government schools in the State. He addressed a gathering at the launch of an initiative ‘Mana Badi-Mana Badhyata’ by Wardhannapet MLA A Ramesh in Hanamkonda on Sunday.

The initiative by the MLA, meant to improve infrastructure and standards at government schools in his constituency, would help to boost the confidence of public in government school system, the Deputy CM hoped.

He cited lack of infrastructure, absenteeism by teachers, poor attention by teachers towards students and lack of English medium instruction at government schools as the reasons that kept public away from the schools. ‘These lacunae need to be addressed to revive the schools,’ he added.

The TRS government has been according great importance to better infrastructure and standards at government schools by ensuring availability of sufficient quantity of funds. English medium would be introduced in government schools in phased manner, the Deputy CM explained.

MLA Ramesh has called upon the public and all the stake holders to make ‘Mana Badi-Mana Badhyata’ a success. GWMC Mayor N Narender promised to support the programme taken by the MLA to make government schools compete with private schools.

Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu, GWMC Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, DEO P Rajiv, Bala Vikasa executive director S Showry Reddy and others were present.

Earlier on the day, the Deputy CM has inaugurated additional class rooms built with Rs 80 lakhs at ZPHS at Konkapaka of Parvatagiri mandal in the district in memory of late T Venkatanarasimha Rao-Andalu. The classrooms were built with donation by NRI couple Perala Padmavathi and Sudhakar Rao, who hails from the village.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CM Srihari called upon the NRIs to draw inspiration from Padmavathi and Sudhakar Rao and come forward in improving government schools. The State government this year started 250 Gurukul Schools with Rs 5,000 crore expenditure, he said.

Responding to a request by former minister T Purushothama Rao the Deputy CM said a Gurukul School would be set up at Konkapaka village during next academic year. The donors of the class rooms were felicitated on the occasion.
