Hyderabad: In the wake of intensified agitation by advocates on the bifurcation of the High Court and against the appointment of Andhra-origin judicial officials in Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday met Governor E S L Narasimhan to resolve issues at their level.

On the invitation of the Governor, the Chief Minister rushed to Raj Bhavan walking out of a party meeting with MPs, MLAs and important party functionaries at the HICC Convention Centre.

Sources said that the Chief Minister was asked to come down to Raj Bhavan after the Governor received a call from Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The Chief Minister had written a letter to Rajnath Singh on Tuesday night demanding immediate bifurcation of the High Court between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. “KCR registered his protest before the Governor for the protracted delay in fulfilling the promise of creating separate high courts immediately after the bifurcation of the State,” party sources said.

The Chief Minister also raised the issue of suspension of judicial officers who were participating in the agitation. The Governor, who interacted with the Chief Minister in a one-on-one meeting for more than two hours, assured K Chandrashekar Rao that he would bring to the notice of the Centre all issues pending for the last two years. The division of High Court would be taken up on a priority basis.

Searches conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in sensitive areas of Hyderabad following a tip off that a terrorist group was planning to launch terror attacks and bomb blasts was also discussed at the meeting, sources said.
