​Hyderabad: Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Thursday said that the government was spending Rs 14.27 crore with 443 works in city temples for the ensuing Bonalu.

The Home Minister reviewed the arrangements for Bonalu festival with Mayor and Deputy Mayor at the GHMC office on Thursday. Narasimha Reddy said that Bonalu would be celebrated in a grand manner in the State.

All the roads and footpaths at the temples would be repaired, and colouring and barricading would be taken up at Secunderabad Mahankali temple. The officials have been asked to have high mast lights at temples and 26,000 street lights, sanitation works to be completed and emergency teams to be formed for the festival, he said. Mayor B Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin were also present.

Meanwhile, as part of the annual Bonalu festival, the Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Devalayam committee this time would offer the Bonalu to Ammavaru at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi. The Bonalu festival would be held between July 22 and August 1 at the temple this year.

The festival would start with Dhwajarohanam on July 22 and end with massive procession on August 1. Governor E S L Narasimhan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Ministers, MPs, and MLAs would attend the festival.

The committee members would offer Bonalu at New Delhi on July 9 and 10. They would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invite him for the Bonalu festival in Delhi. The temple committee chairman Raj Kumar Yadav gave the schedule for the festival- Devi Abhishekam, Dhwajarohanam and Kalasha Sthapana on July 22, Lakshaphalarchana on July 23, Ghatasthapana on July 24, Lakshabilvarchana on July 25,

Deepotsavam on July 26, Shakhambari Pooja on July 27, Laksha Pushparchaha on July 28, Laksha Kumkumarchana on July 29, Navachandi Havanam, Tottela Nirvahana on July 30, Baliharana, Devi Mahabhishekham, Bonalu Samarpana on July 31, Ashta Dalapadmaradhana, Potaraju Swagatam and procession on August 1.
