Hyderabad: TRS MP Balka Suman on Friday said his party MPs would stall the functioning of Parliament from July 18, if the Centre does not announce division of the High Court.

The TRS MP was speaking at the Maha Dharna of advocates at Indira Park on Friday. Stating that TRS supported the stand taken by advocates, he said, “If the central government doesn’t support our demand and take action on the issue, TRS MPs will not let the next session of Parliament to function.”

He alleged that the central government was trying to ignore the division of High Court as there is no mention of a time limit for the formation of a separate HC in the AP Reorganisation Act.

“According to Constitution, as per Article 214, every state should have the right for a High Court. In the same way, states like Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand got their own High Courts when they were bifurcated from their respective states.

In the last three consecutive Parliament sessions, we have been protesting on the issue. Trinamool Congress (TMS), Biju Janata Dal and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) have supported us on the division of High Court,” said Suman.
