Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday instructed the Irrigation department to prepare an action plan for the supply of water from Yellampalli lift project to the downstream reservoirs in the monsoon season.

Reviewing progress in the project works with Ministers and officials, he said since Kaleshwaram project works were under progress, the action plan would help to utilise Godavari river water for agricultural and drinking water purpose in the areas that come under the project.

KCR asked the officials to expedite the completion of the proposed Mallanna Sagar project in two years time. The project would help to fetch water needs in both North and South Telangana districts. He reviewed the designs prepared for Dindi lift irrigation project and four other reservoirs–Chitapalli, Gottimukkala, Singaraipalli and Krishnampalli in Nalgonda district.

These schemes are being taken up to provide sufficient drinking water in fluoride affected and other dry land areas in the district. The Chief Minister also explained his plans to fill all tanks and other water bodies with water from the reservoirs to address water crisis from time to time.
