Hyderabad: Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy today directed the officials concerned to provide improved services through internet and Wi-Fi facilities to local people.

The Minister congratulated Transport Commissioner Sandip Kumar Sultania for receiving the prestigious “Trail Blazer Award” from IT Minister KT Rama Rao and prominent journalist Rajdeep Sardesai on Saturday. The award was jointly constituted jointly by Hindustan Petroleum and India Today.

The Minister asked Sultania to introduce ‘mobile wallet’ and adequate number of vehicles such as 104 to offer better services and create awareness on road safety.

He asked the officials to use internet and Wi-Fi facilities to promote road safety measures besides giving ‘on the spot’ driving licenses to applicants. He said he would take up the issue with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao after preparing a thorough plan.

He also asked them to take steps to modernise the computerised vehicle-checking facility at Malkapuram in Nalgonda district and convert the existing driving tracks into automatic tracks. He also called for modernisation of the check-posts.

Later, the minister assured a team of TMU comprising Ashwatham Reddy, Thomas Reddy and others to look into the issue of promotions and other grievances, when they sought his help. The Minister said he would talk to TSRTC Managing Director J V Ramana Rao on the issue.
